Abstract
:
The transformation to the digital economy is a goal for many countries of the world as for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Through Vision 2030, It aims to increase the contribution of the digital economy to the gross domestic product and the adoption of modern technologies related to the fourth industrial revolution. This study aims to measuring the impact of the transition to a digital economy on economic growth in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and some countries in the Middle East. The descriptive and analytical approach is employed for the theoretical rooting, while econometric method is used in the applied part. The study intended to measure the impact of a number of important factors in adopting the digital economy on economic growth, using Panel Data models. It was concluded that the fixed effects model is the appropriate choice for this study. Among the most important results of the study is support for its hypotheses that improving the communications and information technology sector will contribute to accelerating the transition to the digital economy; the importance of directing government spending to sectors that support digital transformation; and the need to develop possible regulations and laws to stimulate modern technologies. Among the most prominent recommendations of the study is the emphasis on the importance of adopting the digital economy of the countries under study, raising the performance of countries in global indicators, and adopting initiatives aimed at reducing the digital gap.
